The Shipping Clerk is responsible for receiving incoming goods and raw materials, preparing outgoing products for shipment, loading, and unloading freight, updating various shipping databases and computer software, and transporting materials to and from storage and production areas.

What you’ll be doing

• Review and assess upcoming inbound & outbound shipments. Consult with other departments in planning and execution, preparation, and dispatch of all orders.
• Receive incoming materials and products. This includes but is not limited to unloading trucks, completing receiving sheets, maintaining necessary logs and shipping related JDE data.
• Monitor appointment calendar, inbound RM appointments, outbound appointments and plan/communicate with the rest of the shipping and receiving team to avoid scheduling conflicts and streamline outbound order processing and loading.
• Document and monitor tracking and archival of all BOL’s and/or waybills.
• Document archival, review and transmittance of completed documents to other Treatt departments and/or auditors.
• Schedule freight pickups and deliveries, negotiate shipping rates and prepare shipping documents such as bill of ladings, waybills, and dangerous goods forms.
• Receive, document and archive return shipments.
• Sample and document certain incoming materials and submit to lab for analysis.
• Prepare and check accuracy/compliance for outgoing shipment dispatch. This includes shipping documentation, dock staging, inspection and pro labelling.
• In the supervisor’s absence provide others with guidance and assistance in overcoming work process issues.
• Provide timely and accurate delivery of materials to and from storage, production areas and recipients.
• Maintain daily forklift inspection checklist.
• General cleaning, facilities maintenance & safety log functions.
• Assist other departments when needed.
• Act in the best interests of Treatt PLC at all times by demonstrating Treatt values.
• Help to foster and promote both an employee health & safety and food safety culture.
• All other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

This position requires good knowledge, understanding and use of the English language and legible handwriting. Basic math that is generally demonstrated by the attainment of a high school diploma or general equivalence degree. Prior Microsoft, inventory software, warehouse, shipping, and receiving experience preferred.

• Ability to regularly practice safe work habits.
• Ability to work overtime including nights and weekends when business needs require.
• Ability to perform basic math equations.
• Ability to read, write and produce legible written documentation.
• Ability to safely and efficiency operate a forklift in warehouse and production environments.
• Skilled in the utilization of various shipping systems such as UPS/FEDEX and DHL systems.
• Ability to type.
• Skilled in utilization of various computer programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Ability to walk, kneel and stoop on a regular basis.
• Ability to twist, bend, stretch and climb on a regular basis.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Valid forklift and Hazardous Materials certifications.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP).
• Ability to read and understand Material safety data sheets (MSDS)
