The Opportunity (General Summary)

 Under the guidance of the Head of Logistics the Packaging Supervisor is responsible for the day to day operations of packaging, properly labelling and preparing for dispatch all customer orders. This role is also responsible for the scheduling and training of personnel, maintaining appropriate packaging inventory levels and signing off “A” customer shipments.

What you’ll be doing

 • Maintain open lines of communication with planning, production, logistics teams and customer services to ensure ship dates, and ideally “pick dates” are met
• Review, re-write where necessary and write shift work procedures and processes
• Assign shift personnel duties and examine employee work for quality, product integrity and conformance to standard packaging, shipping procedures, and dangerous goods regulations
• Provide shift personnel with guidance and direction in the completion of orders and the priority in which they should be completed. Also, in the resolution of any operational issues or obstacles
• Keep Production Manager abreast of any personnel issues or challenges
• Follow up with customer service, shipping, and the export coordinators to ensure all customer specific packaging requirements are being fulfilled
• Ensure all orders are packed according to the Packaging Instructions as printed by Planning and in the correct packaging, with all the proper labels
• All orders must be signed off in a timely manner before progressing to shipping,
• that they have been packaged and labeled correctly, that all special instructions were followed, that orders are on the correct pallets, and that all orders were combined as instructed by customer service or export from notes in JDE or emails
• Maintain products and supply inventories at appropriate and efficient levels
• Maintain all work areas, procedures and equipment in a manner that is in accordance with all laws, regulations and company policies pertaining to safety and sanitation
• Track and report all shift personnel time and attendance
• Take appropriate action to resolve and/or notify appropriate personnel of any operational issues, emergencies, or equipment failures
• Facilitate all necessary training, review performance of staff and recommend continuous training that will benefit both company and staff, including Dangerous Goods Training.
• Proactively challenge old methods and implement new programs, procedures and initiatives that will support the most success of the department
• Work collaboratively with other managers and managers in the UK to define best practices and cross-training
• Ensure facility integrity at shift ends and before leaving the premises

What we’re looking for

• Previous packaging experience
• Knowledge of the flavor and fragrance and / or beverage industries
• Understanding of Treatt products
• Previous supervisory or management
• Good working knowledge of HACCP, OSHA, GMP, HAZMAT, MSDS and EPA requirements
• Possession of Hazardous Goods and IATA certifications
• Demonstrated ability to consistently practice safe work habits
• Ability to perform accurate weight measurements and basic math equations, including standard to metric
conversions
• Ability to read, produce and write clear documentation and communications
• High school diploma or GED with 3-5 years’ experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Possess good verbal communication skills
• Ability to use various spreadsheet, word-processing and database computer software
• Willingness to obtain the Florida Food Manager Certificate
• Forklift Trained
• Skilled in attention to detail, and the ability to command other’s focus on detail
• Positive attitude and a team player mentality
