The Opportunity

As a Buyer, you will play a key role in the implementation of the Procurement strategy, particularly in regards to all purchased materials within your remit. Continuity of supply, increased contribution and improved communications are the objectives of the role. The post-holder will be responsible for managing key aspects of the supply chain, from origin and contract negotiation, through to material receipt and stock profiles. Sourcing from a global supply base, the post-holder will ensure the sustainable supply of key raw materials to the business. This role, following extensive training, will be the major point of contact for decisions pertaining to the products within their remit. It is their responsibility to collaborate, communicate, create efficiencies, and innovate with Treatt team members and stakeholders, supporting the global department and championing Teamwork.

What you’ll be doing

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to :

• Managing a portfolio of purchased Essential oils and Aroma Chemicals
• Full procurement cycle responsibility and autonomy for sustainable and ethical sourcing of materials using the five rights of procurement
• Accountable for medium to large spend across a wide portfolio of products
• Utilise all resources available, including JDE, to maintain optimal levels of inventory and ensure continuity of supply
• Arranging and attending supplier meetings and industry events as and when required, which will involve international travel
• Maintain a high level of internal and external service provision
• Run contract reports and MRP
• Presenting key market data and information to stakeholders using all mediums including formal presentation
• Investigate and implement ways of reducing cost, including but not limited to, alternative supplier sourcing, reviewing payment terms, and negotiation techniques
• Maintain awareness of market conditions, material supply issues, identifying and mitigating supply risk, and communicating any of significance to the relevant internal and external customers through proactive communications
• Stakeholder Engagement - advise and support stakeholders on business related matters to maximise value from opportunities and supply arrangements

What we’re looking for

Essential criteria:
• Has achieved CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level 4) or is willing to work towards and can demonstrate extensive relevant experience and knowledge
• Previous experience within a Procurement or Supply Chain environment with a track record of successful negotiations, stakeholder, and supplier relationship management
• Experience within Flavours or Ingredients for Food/Beverage industry, or sourcing from a global supply base
• Able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the 5 rights of Procurement
• Data extraction and analysis skills
• Strong commercial acumen
• Collaborative, team-player, able to interact effectively regionally and globally
• Motivated and career driven. Self-starter - brining energy, and ambition
• Strong ERP systems knowledge (JDE desirable), with proven experience using MRP systems
• Competent international traveller
• A can-do attitude with a pro-active hands-on approach to all tasks. Someone who demonstrates innovation, drive and enthusiasm
• The ability to communicate complex issues effectively and efficiently both verbally and in writing across all levels within the business
• An ownership mentality with the aptitude to work independently or in a team
• Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and the ability to analyse a high volume of data and produce recommendations
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, with particular focus on EXCEL

Desirable criteria:
• Experience of working within the Flavour & Fragrance industry or with Essential Oils and Aroma Chemicals
• Degree level education or CIPS level 5 Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply
• Experience conducting high value RFP’s
• Knowledge and experience of buying from a global supply base
• Experience using JD Edwards (JDE)
• A minimum of 3 years relevant Procurement or Supply Chain experience and commercial awareness
• Experience of purchasing a high volume of SKU’s
