What you’ll be doing

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to :

• General electrical engineering
• Conducting installations, repairs and preventive maintenance to property, facilities, production-based plant, equipment and control systems
• Ensuring availability and reliability of our Upper Tier CoMAH site
• Developing ideas into conceptual engineering designs from first principles
• Maintaining knowledge of common engineering materials and keeping up-to-date with latest technology
• Providing design solutions and coordinating the production of schemes, drawings and assemblies
• Producing specifications for tasks and functions
• Producing technical reports and studies
• Identifying and responding to task variations through formal change control
• Liaising with external contractors working on site
• Developing and maintaining electrical engineering procedures
• Acting in the best interests of the group at all times
• Providing out of hours support as and when required
• Performing other relevant tasks as may be required
• Ensure compliance of Site Systems, Instrumentation, Electrical and Control equipment to regulatory and site standards
• Contributing at a hands-on level to successfully deliver projects, including new product development, existing product development, cost reduction and product qualification
• Taking responsibility for delivery of multi-discipline work packages to programme, budget and required quality
• Specifying proprietary equipment for use in bespoke design systems
• Sign-off authorisation for electrical works on site
• Application of site SHE rules and policies
• Resource, workload and budget planning
• Apply working knowledge and experience in relevant EH&S issues as required by legislation (and applicable Directives).
• Establish the tasks needed to meet the project requirements in conjunction with your manager and provide cost/timescale information and subsequent progress reporting

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will have :
• Time served apprenticeship supported by relevant formal qualifications
• Minimum Level 3 City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent in an electrical discipline
• Compliant with current IEE Regulations to 18th Edition (as amended)
• Preferably CompEx qualified
• A mechanical and/or electronic qualification would be advantageous
• Experience working in industrial/commercial environment
• Desirable to have experience
o Working in hazardous areas
o Working with and understanding of PLC (management and programming)
• Experience working with instrumentation, control and electrical systems
• Good working knowledge of Low Voltage systems
• Able to interpret and create P&ID / wiring diagrams, electrical drawings and schematics
• Ability to fault find, diagnose and repair whilst working on own initiative
• Able to understand, work to and have an input in the creation of Risk Assessments and Method statements
• Good understanding and maintenance of instrumentation (flow meters, analytical, ultrasonic, level and pressure instruments)
• Take responsibility for the co-ordination of contractor works conducted in compliance with Health & Safety
• Demonstrate a working knowledge in Microsoft Office software i.e. Word and Excel
• Aptitude and willingness for continued training and development
