Treatt on target with request for Liverpool FC to help Kenyan orphanage

Earthoil, the personal care and cosmetics ingredients division of Bury St Edmunds-based flavours and fragrances group Treatt, has enlisted the help of Liverpool FC to provide equipment for some football-loving orphans in Africa.

Earlier this year, members of the Earthoil team in the foothills of Mount Kenya, where the firm grows and produces tea tree oil, saw children from a local orphanage playing football with balls made from bound bundled of plastic bags as they had no proper footballs to use.

Treatt finance director Richard Hope, a keen Liverpool supporter, contacted the club’s academy to ask if it would donate the footballs to the orphanage.

The club responded by sending not only a large quantity of footballs but also shirts for the children, which Treatt then shipped out to Kenya.

A Treatt spokesman said: “They were recently officially handed over by Earthoil workers, to the delight of the children at the orphanage who can now play football properly – and look the part!”
