An exciting opportunity has arisen in our global procurement department. We are seeking a talented and ambitious Buyer to join the team on a permanent basis. For the right candidate and subject to performance this position has the potential career progression into Category Management.

What you’ll be doing

The duties and tasks involve, but are not limited to, the following:

• Full procurement cycle responsibility and autonomy from RFQ and tender negotiations through to contract and post-contract supplier management
• Ensuring optimal stock levels and OTIF deliveries
• Sourcing of high quality, value for money materials
• Identifying suppliers for new and existing products, establishing and enhancing key supplier relationships
• Negotiating favourable terms and pricing with suppliers for chosen quality material
• Immersing in global markets in order to maintain awareness of and communicate market conditions and dynamics internally and to customers
• Visit suppliers and attend industry events as and when required, involving international travel
• Ensure that pricing and supplier master data is kept up to date on the relevant IT systems to maintain procurement, planning and sales efficiencies
• Maintain and analyse reports, keeping an accurate record of trends to optimise savings and sales potentials

• Negotiation and influencing skills
• Self-starting and deadline focused
• Great interpersonal and relationship skills
• Knowledge and experience of MRP systems
• A can-do attitude with a pro-active hands-on approach to all tasks
• The ability to communicate complex issues effectively and efficiently both verbally and in writing across all levels within the business
• An ownership mentality with the aptitude to work independently or in a team
• Someone who demonstrates innovation, drive and enthusiasm
• Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and the ability to analyse a high volume of data and produce recommendations
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office packages, with particular focus on EXCEL

Desirable criteria:

• Experience of working within the Flavour & Fragrance industry or with Aroma Chemicals
• Experience conducting a tender process
• Knowledge and experience of buying from a global supply base
• Competent international traveller
• Degree level education or MCIPS/CIPS qualified
• Experience using JD Edwards (JDE)
• A minimum of 3 years relevant Procurement or Supply Chain experience and commercial awareness
• Experience of purchasing a high volume of SKU’s
