Richard Court Treatt, an essential oil merchant in the City of London, founded the company in 1886. Treatt specialises in supplying raw materials to flavour and fragrance compounders, and food, beverage, soap, perfumery, cosmetic and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Treatt exports to over 90 countries worldwide. In addition to its own sales staff, Treatt employs a network of agents to service even the remotest parts of the world.

Treatt's extensive stockholding of flavour and fragrance raw materials enables customers to buy large and small quantities at short notice. Treatt's buyers work directly with growers and producers of essential oils to ensure that only the finest quality raw materials are obtained and that the highest standards of production are maintained.

Treatt consists of two subsidiaries - R C Treatt and Treatt USA. R C Treatt is the group's main operating company and conducts business outside the North American continent. The group's other subsidiary, Treatt USA, based in Lakeland, Florida, handles business within North America.
